How to Write a CV Without Work Experience
Despite popular belief, it is not always the candidate with the most experience that gets the job. Recruiters are looking for a combination of experience, skills, and personality; While you may have little or no work experience, you can still market yourself through your education, skills, internships, and other activities.
There are also ways to structure your resume so that the focus is on your skills rather than your work experience.
Make the most of your personal profile or statement
Unless you have any work experience to include on your resume, it is recommended that you include a personal profile or personal statement. This is a short, four or five line introductory statement in which you introduce yourself to recruiters and give them a quick overview of your experience.
Since your personal statement is the first thing recruiters read, it’s important to highlight your skills and show recruiters what you have to offer.
Instead of using a bulleted list, write “I” statements to demonstrate the skills and qualities that make you unique among other candidates.
Customize your resume
Whether you are a seasoned professional or a recent graduate, the same advice applies to all resumes: tailor, tailor, tailor!
Recruiters and employers don’t want any work experience on your resume – they want to see relevant experience. Adjusting your resume shows employers that you understand the job requirements.
A good place to start is to read the description carefully and choose keywords and phrases that you can use on your resume.
