HJI analytics reveal that a lot of hotel staff stay in this role for years simply because they never question it, and repeat shift patterns without auditing progress. The trap is the hotel keeps running while your growth stands still, management sees reliability but not leadership potential and this unfolds slowly across three to five years.
Position: Chief Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Manage all engineering and maintenance operations during the hotel construction and pre-opening
- Supervise the installation and commissioning of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program
- Manage engineering budgets and vendor relationships for the property
- Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience as a Chief Engineer in a 5-star hotel or large facility
- Strong technical knowledge of MEP systems and building maintenance
- Proven experience in pre-opening or major renovation projects
- Leadership skills to manage a team of technicians and contractors
- Degree in Engineering or a related technical field
- Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia
- Detail-oriented with a focus on building efficiency and safety
