A lot of hotel staff stay in this role for years simply because they never question it, wait for company training instead of designing their own learning plan. The consequence is losing several years with no real advancement, management sees reliability but not leadership potential and by then the market may have already moved on.

Position: Duty Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the daily operations of the front office and lobby areas to ensure service consistency
  • Act as the primary point of contact for guest issues and emergencies during the shift
  • Conduct regular property inspections to maintain the highest standards of safety and presentation
  • Manage guest check-ins and check-outs, ensuring a seamless and personalized experience
  • Provide detailed shift reports and briefings to management regarding operational highlights

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Duty Manager or Assistant Front Office Manager in a 5-star hotel
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Deep understanding of Marriott brand standards and guest service protocols
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia with strong interpersonal abilities
  • Knowledge of property management systems such as Opera or similar platforms
  • Flexible to work in shifts including nights, weekends, and public holidays
